Sgt.1st Class Jeffrey N. Peters has dedicated 15 years to the Army, with two combat deployments to Afghanistan in (2011, 2014), and various mission rotations into South Korea and Japan.
On August 9, 2021, his life changed forever. He suffered a large ischemic stroke that affected multiple parts of his brain while teaching a battalion level bradley gunnery class to 1-18 Infantry just before his unit was to qualify. His cerebellum and occipital lobe were hit the hardest and left Sgt.1st Class Peters with permanent brain damage effecting his balance, coordination, and muscle control.
At Fort Riley SRU, adaptive sports gave him a way to continue recovery beyond just learning how to walk again. He is honored to compete in the sports that have helped him to push past the limitations of his injury.
