Each team is allowed up to 8 start rights in the powerlifting competition.
During the bench press, athletes must lower the bar to the chest, hold it motionless on the chest, and then press it upwards to arm’s length with locked elbows.
Bench press is the sports single discipline and is open to male and female athletes.
Athletes compete solely by body weight divisions regardless of functional ability. There are 4 weight categories per gender - Women up to 55kg, 67kg, 86kg, and 86kg+; Men – up to 72kg, 88kg, 107kg, 107kg+.

Athletes use a specially designed bench press in which their legs are rested on bench. This feature allows for equal and fair competition between athletes who may or may not have lower limbs.
Powerlifting is the ultimate test of upper body strength and can sometimes see athletes lift more than three times their own body weight.
2018 is the first year Warrior Games athletes will compete in the powerlifting event.
