Nathaniel Mateo

Staff Sgt. Mateo enlisted in the Guam Army National Guard in 2011 as an Infantryman and then joining the 1-294th Infantry Regiment. Over the course of his career, he has deployed three times in service to his
country. His first deployment was to Afghanistan in 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2018, he participated in a homeland security mission in Guam for SECFOR, and most recently, in 2023 he
deployed to Saudi Arabia as part of Operation Spartan Shield.

Committed to professional growth and excellence, Staff Sgt. Mateo has completed multiple leadership courses and specialized training, including Air Assault School. His dedication to duty, leadership, and
continuous development has made him a valuable asset to his unit and the Guam Army National Guard. Beyond his military career, Staff Sgt. Mateo is married to his wife Regina Mateo, together with their lovely dog companion, Micro.
