Staff Sgt. Tyler Pollard dedicated nearly 11 years to the North Carolina National Guard, with deployments to Romania in 2017, Kuwait in 2019, and Syria in 2023. On October 19, 2023, his life changed forever. After a drone explosion, he suffered a mild Traumatic Brain Injury and fell into deep depression. Staff Sgt. Pollard thought his life’s dreams were completely out of reach until he arrived at the Fort Bragg SRU, where he was introduced to adaptive sports.
Adaptive sports gave the 30-year-old a sense of purpose and contributed to both his mental and physical health. Staff Sgt. Pollard felt like he was part of a community surrounded by other Soldiers who
understood what he was going through while also receiving the treatment he needed to bring his old self back within reach.
