Becoming a Wounded Warrior Athlete has been the totem of my recovery. When I was in the depths of my treatment, spending 7 hours a day for 6 days a week in a hospital with others like me, I missed my fellow Marines. When I was cleared and able to join the Warrior Athlete Recovery Program, I was finally in a team I recognized as my own family. Each day was more and more powerful as a beacon for hope because I was not alone. I met life-long friends when I was able to participate in the Warrior Games Challenge in 2023.
