Kaplan Yeter

On October 17th, 2017, I arrived at MCRD San Diego. As an 0311 Rifleman, I began my career with Alpha Co. 1/23 from Houston, Texas. Since the age of 5, I have always aspired to become a Marine Rifleman. Growing up on a chicken farm in Mississippi, my grandfather, who served as a Green Beret during Vietnam, played a significant role in shaping my ambition. Spending countless hours by his side, watching WWII documentaries on the history channel, I yearned to be among those exceptional men who stood out. During my early preteen years, my father’s daily NPR reports on the ongoing war in Afghanistan further fueled my desire to become a Marine. It may sound exaggerated, but becoming a Marine was my ultimate dream.
Participating in Warrior Recovery events has provided me with an opportunity to reconnect with fellow service members and regain a sense of purpose. The ability to stay competitive and refine my skills has greatly contributed to my recovery process.
