Pierre Sturgis

SSgt Sturgis has served in the Marine Corps for 12 years. From 2017-2020 he has supported Wounded Warrior Battalion – East as permanent staff ensuring injured, wounded, and ill service members were cared for via transportation to and from appointments, setting up events, and retirement ceremonies. In 2021, SSgt Sturgis suffered from a gunshot wound to the leg which led to it getting amputated. Being able to support such amazing warriors in their care allowed him to embody the same tenacious attitude towards his recovery. He is now a competitor at Marine Corps Trials competing in individual and team sports to build camaraderie amongst his peers. These sports have helped him mentally stay grounded in athleticism and gives him a purpose to keep striving.

SSgt Sturgis has participated in the DOD Warrior Games Challenge in 2023 and is praying to receive an invitation to represent America in the 2025 Invictus Games.
