Information Systems Technician Second Class Ainesey “Iggy” Inguanzo suffered a serious foot injury that devastated her. It caused her constant pain with daily activities and she gave up many of the things she loved to do before her injury, like hiking and traveling.
When she joined the adaptive sports program through Navy Wounded Warrior, she found that she can still stay active, but in a new way.
“They provided me with the support and resources to participate in activities that I never thought possible, giving me hope and a new sense of purpose. I am grateful for their assistance in helping me overcome my physical limitations and finding joy in sports again.”
Inguanzo has found a huge community of support within the fellow athlete community that can relate to her experiences. In this fellowship, there is healing, too.
At the 2024 Warrior Games, she will compete in archery, indoor rowing, shooting, sitting volleyball, and swimming.
