Maria Concepcion “Cone” Yuvienco joined the Navy in 2013. She served as an aviation ordnanceman for some time but after an injury on deployment, she switched to her current rating of personnel specialist second class. She didn’t join Navy Wounded Warrior until March 2022 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The following year, she attended an introductory camp at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, where she was stationed, and was hooked on archery. She went on to compete in the sport at the 2023 Warrior Games Challenge.
“Archery improve my focus, coordination, and concentration, as well as manage my anxiety. It helped me rebuild my strength,” she said.
At the 2024 Warror Games, Yuvienco will compete in archery, cycling, field, and indoor rowing.
