Steven Flemming

Master Chief Hospital Corpsman Steven “Steve” Flemming served 18 years in the Navy, the majority of his time with Marine Corps operating forces. He’s served in instructor duty, combat operations, Civil Military Operations Center (CMOC), and other operational capacities throughout his career. A true leader, he’s been most inspired by seeing his teams grow and improve their own capabilities.

In 2018, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), but cleared to continue serving. In 2023, he was diagnosed with pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer. Flemming and his family have been adjusting to his new normal, and they have been a great support structure for him.

In the Navy’s adaptive sports program through Navy Wounded Warrior, Flemming could reconnect with the team environment that he loved.

“I have found the adaptive sports program to be incredibly beneficial for my own recovery, but also a useful platform and tool to support others who are in their own fights,” he said.

At the 2024 Warrior Games, Flemming will compete in archery, cycling, shooting, swimming, and wheelchair basketball.
