After sustaining a left knee injury in Poland, Janmiguel Torres Cruz was MEDEVAC to the Fort. Stewart’s SRU. While at first it was an unhappy and challenging moment because of the injury and how his life was changing due to it, the SRU team was there to make me feel better about himself and work with me every day as he made his recovery. As a person who has been a fan of sports and has been part of them since being a kid, he has relived that joy and experience through the adaptive recondition that the SRU offered and their support towards my recovery. Janmiguel would like to thank the AR team that has been there since day 1 of his recovery for pushing and believing in his every day to be in a better position than he was. Adaptive sports and reconditioning have given him that fire in his heart and mind that I once had. While his time here is coming to an end, Janmiguel can say that he’s grown as a soldier and a person, he’s learned that no matter what situation or position you are in, there’s always a good side to things. To be part of Team Army and to compete alongside soldiers and veterans that have been in my exact position will be one of the most gratifying and fulfilling things for him. Janmiguel also encourages any soldier, veteran, and person to believe in themselves because a positive mind finds opportunity in everything. GO ARMY!
