Noah Rydesky found himself at the Fort Carson SRU in a wheelchair, suffering from frostbite to both legs after a fateful night out with friends. Plunged into a dark abyss of embarrassment, anger, and depression, Noah struggled to find purpose. Months of physical therapy followed, during which he turned to workouts, particularly swimming and weightlifting through ARCP, as a lifeline from his despair.
Noah’s experience with SRU proved transformative. Encountering respectful and supportive staff, he dedicated himself to physical therapy, gradually regaining both balance and confidence. Despite enduring nerve damage from the frostbite, Noah now maintains a regular routine of swimming, cycling, and gym sessions. Though unable to run as before due to persistent pain, he persists in training to keep pace with his former squad mates.
Dreaming of representing the Army at the Warrior Games, Noah sees athletic competition as a profound victory and expression of gratitude towards his support network. Inspired by a quote from his high school coach— “you’ll throw up before you pass out and pass out before you give up”—Noah remains steadfast in his pursuit of physical and mental resilience.
