Chelsea Miller

Life changed for Hospital Corpsman Second Class Chelsea Miller after a good friend died from medical malpractice at age 22. She wanted to leave home and find a purpose to help others, ideally in the medical field. She enlisted in 2014 to be a corpsman, but it wasn’t always easy. “I’m proud of the times I wanted to quit, and someone encouraged me to keep going for just another minute. If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be here.” She found Navy Wounded Warrior when she met a past Team Navy participant at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center who encouraged her to enroll. Once in the program, her care team also encouraged her to add adaptive recreation to her recovery care plan. She attended her first camp in 2024 where she rekindled her love of swimming. “As someone who lost a lot of love in sports after my injury and surgery, there are many things I can still do. I count, and I have a network of people like me, with stories like me.” In her free time, Miller likes to read, write, and play Dead by Daylight with friends.
