Hillary Ruff

After she got her Emergency Medical Technician certification, Gunner’s Mate First Class Hillary Ruff joined the Navy in 2012 to get at least four years of experience before she started a career in public safety. While in service, she earned her bachelor’s degree while working in public safety and emergency management. Once she enrolled in Navy Wounded Warrior, a member of her care team signed her up for adaptive sports. “She joked that I had no choice, that it would fill my cup again and allow me to be the me I used to be. She was right. I gained confidence and found myself surrounded by loving friends who understand the hardship we have all been through.” In her free time, she loves to play softball with her local league. She goes running with her service dog, and camps with her son and family. She wants her career to make a difference. She serves as a board member for Dogs on Deployment to reach other service members and veterans.
