Retired Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer 2nd Class Chelsea Miller enlisted on the playing field during the 2014 Army/Navy Game. She joined the U.S. Navy to become a corpsman because she wanted to help other people after a friend passed away from medical malpractice. She saved lives through her work in the emergency department, intensive care unit, and wounded warrior medical surgical unit and was always impressed by people’s ability to persevere through tough times. Then she began having her own vascular issues that affected her career progression. When one of her colleagues competed in the 2024 Warrior Games, she was inspired to join Navy Wounded Warrior and try adaptive sports as well. This year marks a return to the Warrior Games after competing in 2025 in Colorado Springs, Colo. She earned bronze in 100 meter freestyle swimming. She loves swimming most because being underwater is a quiet, calming escape that makes her feel invincible. She takes strength and motivation from her family and friends, as well as her coaches who encourage her to push beyond limits she never thought possible.
