Seaman Apprentice Aspen Fleming-Jones enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2025 to become a hospital corpsman and jump into her career with both feet. She had a GPA of 98% and excelled in most of her physical readiness tests. Only three weeks into school, she received her diagnosis: Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Though it slowed her down, it did not stop her. She joined Navy Wounded Warrior and began participating in the adaptive sports program. Fleming-Jones brought her same commitment to excellence with her as she strives to better her physical strength and endurance, but more importantly, to remind herself that she is still capable of challenging herself to achieve great things. Precision air is her favorite event, as she has been shooting with her family since childhood. Her neuropathy affects the sensations in her hands and makes it more challenging, yet she still loves it. She finds motivation in knowing that she is not alone in her struggle, and that her teammates are facing their own as well. For her, it creates an even playing field and removes the isolation that her illness can create.
