Retired Gas Turbine Mechanical Engineer Petty Officer 1st Class Kiiursti “Kii” Bray enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2014 because she wanted to be a positive influence for her siblings as she served her country with dedication and commitment. During her 11-year career, Bray finished at the top of her class for two Navy “C” schools, completed more than 200 hours of volunteering through STEM, deployed, and participated in a number of engine changeouts. She also completed her bachelor’s in psychology while she was on active duty and is currently working on her master’s in rehabilitation counseling and writing a book. While on limited-duty status for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Bray joined Navy Wounded Warrior and participated in her first adaptive sports camp in November 2025 where she realized it was the perfect program to help her push her out of her comfort zone. She is most fond of powerlifting and sees it as a form of solace. It quiets her mind as the sport distills down to just her, the bar, and her self-motivation to complete one more press. She is motivated to train for Warrior Games so that her newfound skills, strength and endurance outshine her mental and physical barriers.
