Retired Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Edmarie Medina joined the U.S. Navy in 2023 because she wanted to set a strong example for her son and build him a legacy based in strength, discipline, and integrity, where honor, courage, and commitment are lived values. Medina enrolled in Navy Wounded Warrior to support her through a traumatic brain injury (TBI), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and military sexual trauma (MST), as each impacted her cognitive functioning, emotional well-being, daily quality of life, and overall career progression. She joined adaptive sports to challenge herself beyond the limitations she and others had placed on her. She wanted to grow her confidence, develop her resilience, and participate in a like-minded and uplifting community of other service members who understood her journey. Medina discovered adaptive field is her favorite event because it forces her to hone her power through technique and focus. She enjoys the challenge of constantly improving and seeing measurable progress. For her, the Warrior Games represent tenacity, determination, and stepping out of a comfort zone.
