Francine Raimondi

Information Systems Technician Petty Officer 1st Class Francine Raimondi joined the U.S. Navy in 2006 seeking the opportunity to see parts of the world and experience other cultures while learning a skill set that would serve her throughout her lifetime. She approaches her recovery journey from a sense of awe and deep gratitude, driven by her strong personal Christian faith. Her Navy Wounded Warrior care team introduced her to adaptive sports during a time when Raimondi wanted to challenge her physical limitations and find a group of supportive peers to build lasting relationships. She was not disappointed, and now has a new-found love for wheelchair basketball. She played the sport as a child and loved that learning to adapt to the chairs alongside her teammates helped build team cohesion and confidence in each other. Be it on or off the court, they continue to motivate each other to keep training and looking out for each other, mentally and physically.
