Courtney Stanton

SMSgt (ret) Courtney Stanton served 25 years in the United States Air Force as a Force Support professional. He leaves behind an impactful legacy of leadership, service, and resilience that continues well beyond his time in uniform. Courtney joined the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program in 2025, with his first competitive experience at the 2026 Marine Corps & Air Force Trials. Stepping into competition reignited a drive within, pushing him to redefine his physical limits and discover what his “new normal” could be after remission and for his recovery journey. Adaptive sports became a catalyst for that next chapter. Being selected to represent Team Air Force at the Department of Warrior Games stands as a powerful milestone in his recovery journey. A survivor of adenocarcinoma, he has also faced the compounded challenges of torn discs and damaged menisci, each obstacle demanding resilience, discipline, and unwavering determination. For him, this opportunity is not about position, but about progress. It represents how far he has come and reinforces that healing is defined by persistence, not perfection.
