SrA (ret) Jasmine Gibson served in the United States Air Force for 4 years, leaving a lasting impact through her commitment to honoring others. During her time in service, Jasmine distinguished herself as a Ceremonial Guardsman with the U.S. Air Force honor Guard at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, where she played a critical role in 619 ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery. As a member of the Firing Party, she rendered final honors to fallen service members, carrying the weight and responsibility of each ceremony with precision and respect. Her service also included participation in high-visibility honors, such as the funeral of the 6th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force and narrating the Pentagon portrait unveiling for the Honorable Barbara Barrett. Jasmine was enrolled into the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program in 2025 and participated in her first event earlier this year. There, she was introduced to adaptive sports, an experience that reshaped her recovery. As someone navigating challenges that are not always visible, adaptive sports provided a new perspective, allowing her to reconnect with her body, regain a sense of momentum, and take ownership of her healing in a meaningful way. Competing at the Department of War Warrior Games as a first-time competitor representing Team Air Force reflects not just how far she has come, but her willingness to continue forward with patience, grace, and determination. It is also a way for her family and friends to better understand her journey—one defined not by limitations, but by growth, strength, and perseverance.
