Jon Geren

SMSgt Jonathan Geren served 23 years in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces professional, dedicating his career to protecting others and leading Airmen in high-demand environments. His career reflects a legacy of leadership, resilience, and commitment to mission and people. After joining the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program in 2020 and attended his first event at Joint Base San Antonio- Randolph in 2023, Jon found a renewed sense of purpose through adaptive sports. What started as a way to stay active quickly became a path to restoring both his physical and mental well-being. Through training, he found structure again replacing uncertainty with discipline, and self-doubt with progress. It helped him confront the belief that he could no longer be the person he once was and instead showed him that growth was still possible in a new way. After competing at the 2024 Warrior Games in Orlando, FL and representing Team US at the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver Whistler, Jon gained a broader perspective on both competition and connection. Representing Team US on the international stage was the experience of a lifetime, competing alongside athletes from around the world, united by resilience and mutual respect. That experience reinforced a powerful truth: regardless of background or circumstance, there is a shared desire to support one another and succeed. Like many recovery journeys, Jon’s path has not been linear. After experiencing setbacks, he once again turned to training and competition to regain control and refocus. Now, as a second-time Team Air Force competitor at the Department of Defense Warrior Games, he brings both experience and leadership to the team. He is committed to mentoring newer athletes, instilling confidence, encouraging them to trust their process, and reminding them that this journey is their own to embrace.
