Justin Burback

TSgt Justin Burback has dedicated 14 years of service to the United States Air Force with a career in Security Forces and is currently stationed at Holloman AFB. Throughout his career, Justin has demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting others and leading from the front, including a deployment to Iraq from 2020 to 2021. During that deployment, Justin sustained a hip injury while helping others into a bunker during an indirect fire attack. Alongside the physical injury, he has also navigated the challenges of invisible wounds, continuing to push forward through both physical and mental recovery. After being introduced to adaptive sports through the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program and competing at the 2026 Marine Corps & Air Force Trials earlier this year, with the guidance of coaches and the support of fellow warriors, he began to rebuild not just strength and mobility, but belief in what his body is still capable of. For Justin, competing at the Department of War Warrior Games is about having the opportunity to stand alongside other recovering service members who have faced their own battles and continue to rise. Competing together, united by shared experiences and resilience, reinforces the strength that is found through community.
