Curtis Belew

SSgt (ret) Curtis Belew served in the United States Air Force for 11 years with a career as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician, leading teams in one of the military’s most demanding and high-risk career fields. A serious back injury led Curtis to the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program in 2023. That same year, he attended an event at Joint Base Andrews where he tried adaptive sports including archery, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby. Sports became a key part of his recovery journey and Through training and competition, Curtis learned to adapt, rebuild, and redefine his limits, proving to himself that his identity was not lost—just evolving. Competing in the Department of Defense Warrior Games as a member of Team Air Force for a second time represents more than a milestone—it’s a statement. A statement that resilience is built through adversity, that change can be harnessed, and that purpose can be reclaimed.
